Our Culture
Equal Opportunity
We hire for capability, potential and character, regardless of background.
Working Here: What we Believe & What we are Building
We believe, after Netflix, in a strategy of ‘talent density’. Similarly, as Jim Collins, Harvard Professor and author of Good to Great describes it, great organisations think ‘First Who?’. Global expert on talent, Claudio Fernandez-Araoz extends this more clearly, telling us It’s Not the How or the What but the Who. We succeed by surrounding ourselves with those seeking excellence. If that’s you – or it is who you aspire to be – get in touch.
High Performance, By Design
Incentives drive behaviour. The axiom “Show me the incentives, and I’ll show you the results” is a central belief at Cassi.
Consequently, we build feedback loops deliberately and carefully. We set clear goals, and sub objectives. We prioritise, probabilistically. We have a ‘battle rhythm’ a cadence of iterative review that ensures we can identify and fix problems, and compound successes quickly and continuously. In other words, we apply Cassi, and Cassi’s concepts, in everything we do – ensuring that you, and the teams you are part of here, and our culture are as continuously optimised for success as the clients that rely on us to do the same for them.
Cassi is, in a practical sense, a truth engine. It tests beliefs against reality, seeking to continuously optimise for accuracy. To reduce uncertainty. That works best if we do the same interpersonally, and in organisational and process design too – see ‘how we work’ below for some of the principles we are applying in building a sustainable system for continuous high-performance.
Product
What we build is a product of the culture, as such, we pursue excellence in its design, functionality and utility, but acknowledge the product is never perfect, and the research does not ‘finish’: we iterate and improve relentlessly.
There will always be residual uncertainty. Better forecasting changes incentives and behaviour, which changes the system we are trying to predict.
Each improvement creates new hypotheses, new tests, and new product work.
As our strategy engine is more widely adopted, the value of more novel strategies increases. Enabling them becomes higher and higher value.
We are building the machinery of discovery and deployment: a system that turns frontier research into customer advantage.
We are designing the organisation to do two things at once: speed innovation cycles to stay at the frontier, while anticipating and building “what’s next” to push the frontier beyond the current horizon.
Our Objectives
- Grow to a £300m business by 31 March 2028.
- Recognised as the leading strategy and forecasting platform globally by 31 December 2028.
- Recognised as a frontier research laboratory in artificial intelligence by 31 December 2028
Who Thrives Here
You will like Cassi if you:
- Care about the craft of decision-making
- Want to be judged on output and learning, not politics
- Can change your mind in public when the evidence changes
- Take responsibility without waiting for permission
- Communicate with precision
- Love learning
How We Work
As Ash Fontana writes in ‘The AI First Company’:
Whereas earlier tools gave us physical and intellectual leverage, AI provides decision-making leverage that…gets more out of our resources, and builds competitive advantage. Whereas land, labour and capital were the resourced leveraged to compete in the last millennium, information is now the resource to leverage. Whereas the leading companies of yesterday excelled at managing land, labour and capital, tomorrow’s leaders will excel at managing information.
Achieving this is easier said then done, but it is central to the Cassi mission. Our value to our customers, our competitiveness, our defensibility as a business rests in the system that continuously improves and develops the product as much as the product itself.
We are AI-first – looking to build workflows that maximise effectiveness and efficiency. We are not AI-only – we take a principled approach to ensure we get the most out of human and machine.
Here are some of our thoughts related to the kind of system and culture we are building, asking you to join, and wanting you to help further improve.
